About Bontology
Know the business before you change it.
Bontology was built on a simple conviction: most transformations go wrong long before the build, when what the business actually knows gets lost between discovery and delivery. We built the model that keeps it.
The problem we kept seeing
Discovery happens, and then most of what it uncovered evaporates. A stakeholder explains how the work really runs, someone writes it down, and by the time requirements get drafted, the nuance is gone and no one can point back to who said what. Decisions get made on secondhand summaries instead of the business's own evidence.
We built Bontology because that gap is fixable. If the model keeps a line back to the interview that produced it, the knowledge does not have to evaporate, and the people funding the change can see the evidence for themselves.
Our mission
To make what a business actually knows about itself into something durable: a model that survives the handoff from discovery to decision to build, with the evidence still attached.
What we believe
Outputs trace to evidence
A figure or a requirement you cannot trace back to its source is an opinion, not a fact. Traceability is not a feature we added; it is the point of the model.
AI needs human verification
AI can structure what stakeholders say faster than a person typing notes, but it should never be the last word. Every output carries a confidence score and a path to human review.
Knowledge belongs to the business
What a company's people know about how it runs is that company's asset. It stays theirs: isolated, never commingled, never used to benchmark them against anyone else.
What exists today
Bontology is a live product. Real engagements run on it today, building traceable models from real stakeholder interviews through to costed problems, requirements, and user stories. We do not name clients publicly; the sample data you see on this site (Hartwell Fabrication Co., Cedar Lane Bakery) is fictional, used to show the model honestly without exposing anyone's business.
Where we are going
We are building out the full four-role experience: executives who decide from published outputs, consultants who run engagements, analysts who work the model in detail, and business users who are interviewed. Each role gets an interface built for what they actually need to do, not one dashboard stretched four ways.
